About Where can I obtain a reputable Master's Degree in Education Online

Where can I obtain a reputable Master's Degree in Education Online?
I have my B.S.C. in English and Film and I also have my Professional Teaching Certificate for English 6-12. I would like to get my Master's Degree in Education, however, I'm so busy I would really prefer to have the flexibility of an online program. I keep finding schools that are not accredited or their accreditation is flimsy. Does anyone know of a good online school for a Master's in Education? Thanks!

Hi Apryl, Check out www.onlinedegreereviews.org/ and compare the schools you're considering - it's a great site and a great tool. Have you looked at American Public University? APU is regionally and nationally accredited and offers a Masters in Education; it's a great program. Here's a link to the School of Education: http://www.apu.apus.edu/academic/programs/school/apuedu/education Here's a link to APU on Facebook (the students are very active and supportive, and will likely be happy to talk to you about their experiences): http://www.facebook.com/AmericanPublicU Good luck in your decision and in your future schooling! Please let me know if there's anything I can help you with, Nicole nendres@apus.edu

Your best bet is to go with a regionally accredited ground school that now has an online program. For instance, you can earn an online M.Ed. from a number of state schools that have moved programs online. Check your state university systems. There are also some regionally accredited private schools with online M.Ed. programs, like American InterContinental University Online (AIU Online). If you live near a ground campus, you may also be able to take a degree via hybrid learning (a mix of online and on-ground courses

Online Education Programs. Are they worth the paper they are printed on?
I am considering persuing an online degree in Accounting. I was wondering if the degree is readily accepted by companies during the hiring process in comparison to going to a brick and mortar school. Response from anyone who has gone through an Online Degree program, obtained a degree and found quality work. Did you feel like the fact that the degree was received online had any drawbacks? Any helpful/informative comments are appreciated.

Hello, There are some well known and respected online universities such as University of Phoenix which is well known for its online courses. There are also lots of scams which sell degrees for $99 - just do the research and check whether the one you want to take is a reputable one.
2 :
Make sure they are regionally accredited if you want to use the credits later to transfer to a brick and mortar school. Also if you use Penn Foster ,Ashworth or Stratford I read that some employers will not accept as legit. I have been researching these schools and the biggest complaint I see is that they use outdated materials to train you. On the up side Penn Fosters credits are so cheap- I checked with my local community college which has an Online Program and they are 4 times the cost! I think if you want a really good online degree with no worries you should go for a school that also has the brick and mortar- but it will not be cheap( Drexel was 600 per credit) and they do not offer every course online so u still have to go for some. If you find a school online just do some research- u can also check consumer Rip off reports dot com- some of these schools have hundreds of complaints on there! Good LUCK to You and let us know what u decide

As long as any college you earn your degree from is regionally accredited your degree will be recognized by potential employers and other academic institutions. The biggest recommendation I would make would be to contact a number of schools that offer a program you are interested in to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition and schedule requirements, employment opportunities, etc.) This site has some good information on regionally accredited online degrees: http://www.ecollegefinder.org I think you can fill out your contact information on there for any schools you are interested in and they will send you more information for free.

It is very important to choose a competent university that provides maximum knowledge with minimum cost and time involvement. Factors governing the choice for online institution of higher education are accreditation of institute, esearch the quality and relevance of course offered, cost involved, admission requirements, investigate the faculty and alumni.

It depends on what type of teacher you want to be, and what your state requirements are for teacher licensing and credentialing. Go to your state's teacher credentialing organization first. They should have a web site if you search. Look up the steps and requirements to obtaining the type of teaching credential you want (elementary, multi-subject, single-subject, etc.). I would also call your local state university that offers teaching credential programs/degrees and sit in on one of their free informational lectures about the program. You will learn a lot about what is required, what they offer, etc. THEN, go and compare
Online Colleges because you will know what you need to obtain. Most Online Program  offer only Master's or Bachelor's in education, but that doesn't mean you'll qualify for your state's specific credentials. Good luck!

plenty of online schools offer bachelors degrees and masters degrees with a teaching emphasis - but that is not sufficient to teach. You need a credential. I have been answering this the same way for the last year - There are no schools that offer one. You cannot become a teacher online only.

About accredited online education masters degree program for Texas

Accredited online education masters degree program for Texas?
I'm trying to find an online school that offers a masters in
Education Program that would be recognized and accepted while I'm teaching in Texas. Anybody that teaches in Texas get a masters degree online, that their district recognized and can share what site and program they went through? So far no teachers from Texas have been able to help me answer my questions. I really don't want either of these first two answers to get any points, because they are so what I was hoping not to get. Obviously I'm aware there are many online colleges available, any dummy with a search engine could find that out, but accreditation varies by state so if you don't know specifics please don't waste your time.

About what is the reputation of University of Phoenix's online degree program w/ job recruiters

What is the reputation of University of Phoenix's online degree program w/ job recruiters?
I have decided to pursue my Masters degree in Marketing online, due to time and money constraints. I know University of Phoenix is well-established re: its online education program. However, does it have any real credibility w/ recruiters and placement/HR offices? It is definitely more economical and technologically advanced than the online programs of established colleges and universities. But is it worth it? Are there any traditional colleges of which anyone is aware that offer good online programs at a reasonable cost? Thanks very much.

Yes,there are many better choices than UoP. If you are interested I would advise you to visit Degree Discussion (http://www.degreediscussion.com/forums/) there are lots of people there who can help you. There is a lot of bad things being said about UoP and the way it operates. There are cheaper and more reasonable Online Marketing programs. For example : Baker College (http://www.bakercollegeonline.com/index.cfm/degreeonline-program) Regis University (http://www.mbaregis.com/degrees_mbamktg.asp) University of North Alabama (http://www2.una.edu/business/mba/index.html) or (http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/UNA/programs/marketing.html) There are plenty more..that are at least as "affordable" as UoP, One thing to make sure is that all Colleges and Universities you consider are Regionally Accredited (if In the USA). You may or may not choose to go for Professional Accreditation(AACSB) but that is more about choice then acceptability(please note the only Professionally Accredited school I listed was the University of North Alabama and they are not accredited by AACSB by the lesser known ACBSP.) I would really recommend the Degree Discussion message board, a lot of people who have vast distance learning(DL) experience.

I would regard online universities as the absolute last resort for someone seeking higher education. The quality of education these programs offer is minimal - there is simply no substitute for the kind of dynamic interactions and discussions that commonly occur in face-to-face college courses. Also, the quality of educator is significantly less at online universities - the best faculty choose to teach at real colleges and universities. Both the pay and work environments are far superior to online universities. So, for great classes from great instructors, go to a real college or university. Also, because of the minimal training they offer, employers and graduate institutions place little value in degrees earned from online programs. Many of these programs lack even basic accreditation for the degree programs they offer. Bottom line - you will receive little if any personal or professional benefit from online universities relative to what you could have received from a real college or university.
